The Harvard Planning Office mission is to ensure that the quality of Harvard's physical environment supports the University's excellence in teaching, research and campus life. We promote:
- Stewardship of facilities, land, capital financial resources and physical plant information.
- Collaboration with university clients, stakeholders, neighbors and the broader community.
- Operating with the highest standards of integrity and professional expertise.
Harvard Planning is organized into the following groups:
Physical planning services to achieve excellence in campus planning and design; to help preserve and enhance the distinct character of Harvard’s campuses; and to address future growth and change in an environmentally and fiscally sustainable manner.
The Information Resources group collects, develops, manages, and distributes data about Harvard's physical environment and surrounding communities to help the University manage physical assets, improve operations, and efficiently plan for the future. Information collections maintained by the Planning Office include the University's principal repository for construction documentation, building and land records, maps and surveys, the University Geographic Information System (GIS), University wide space information, and capital construction project information.
